East Africa Community Award for Research Excellence (EACARE 2023)
The East Africa Awards for Research Excellence are given annually to a scientist from the East African community in recognition of significant work that shows the focus and promise of making outstanding contributions to research. The nomination process will be start in on 1st June and the awards will be given on 17th & 18th August 2023 during the EASYRIS 2023 Symposium
Established in 2022 by the EACARDE, these awards support diversity in the science community by recognizing excellence in research by East African scientists, and researchers and expanding opportunities for international collaboration on the East African region.
Award benefits
EACARE is proud to recognize our honorees. Recipients will receive an engraved award, as well as the following benefits:
- $1,000 prize
- A three-year membership to EACARDE
- Recognition and invitation to present at EASYRIS Meeting during the award presentation year
- Award winners are eligible for travel support and meeting registration for EASYRIS.
- Media Coverage
Awards categories are as follows:
- All times most cited researchers from the EAC region
- All-time most cited female researcher from EAC region
- Paper with the highest Impact Factor for the previous year
- Paper with the highest Impact Factor for the previous year (for female researchers)
- Youngest female first author
All those awards will recognize those working in local institutions and those working overseas. However, the prize awards will be given to those working in institutions located in EAC. To be considered for nomination, please fill the below form. A dedicated team will double check the claimed information and selected candidates will be contacted. The Awards Committee Team for EACARE 2023 will be announced very soon. It is made by 14 scholars from the 7 states members of EAC. The selection process is as follow:
An evaluation team will check if the the claims made by the applicants are correct, for instance, if their papers are indexed in the claimed library. Note that we have considered two main libraries or databases, Scopus and Web of Science (SCI, SCIE, SSCI A&HCI), which are the most widespread databases.
For each country and each category, a report will be submitted to the Awards Committee Team. The team will then decide the winning researchers in all the five categories. Winning researchers will be further contacted.
For each EAC state member, one prize will be given and other recipients will receive engraved awards
